Dying technology

It seems that nobody questions post industrial revolution technology. We question aspects of it, but the answer is always 'better technology', or in other words the answer to problems caused by technology is more technology. Have we stopped to consider whether or not post industrial revolution technology can ever integrate harmoniously with the technology of God's creation? In particular the manipulation of chemicals to create various compounds ultimately seems to produce chemical structures that do not interact well with those of living systems. Looking at this another way, who can deny that the industrial revolution was driven by the pursuit of riches, yet the love of money is the root of all evil. We may of necessity be entangled with it, but it seems a reasonable thing for a Christian to be very cautious about any heart felt affinity for technology. If we worship the God of creation surely we are saddened by destruction of his beautiful world and can see the shallowness of shiny toys. At least however we can retain the joy of knowing that it will one day be renewed.

Journalism

Most journalists are honourable in repeating the lies they sincerely believe. One of the difficulties we face is that we all find it hard to conceive that many world leaders are telling absolute bare faced lies and spinning a web of total deceit that is not just a slight spin on the truth but often 180 degrees opposite to it.

A Christian president?

The ‘moral conservative' fake Christian stage show is as old as Constantine who professed to be a Christian for political support, while still engaging less publicly in occult pagan practices. However, such is the confusion of the age that I believe many of these politicians today do not even realise they are faking it, so poor is their understanding of God and theology. The generally lukewarm state of Christianity in the west makes us more vulnerable than ever to the manipulation of Christians for political ends.

War

War has always been sold to the masses as being either for a righteous cause, or defensive, or forward defensive (they might kill us if we don't kill them), not to mention implicitly or explicitly the will of God. In reality wars are seldom about anything other than furthering the aspirations of the elite.

The elite

Finally I think I grasp the ultimate aim of societies elite super wealthy oligarchy. A modern form of the dark ages where a small ultra wealthy and powerful owning & ruling class (royalty in a sense) own all significant resources and assets. As in the previous dark ages the masses must be weak, disorganised, dumbed down and in hand-to-mouth need of their benefactors (regardless of the exact level of their lifestyle). A pervading semi-superstitious religion is useful to keep the people placated, give them a ‘cause' for which to fight the kingdoms wars and provide the leaders with ‘divine' authority. The big difference is that the new royalty will consist largely of corporate directors, CEO's and high-level government officials. The new kingdoms will be defined by a combination of financial networks and physical territory. In many cases it won't matter if the kingdom does not fully own a country politically, as long as it owns it financially. I guess this is not exactly a prediction, just a small extrapolation of how things already are.

1984

When as a teenager I saw the movie 1984 I didn't think it bore any relation to the society that I was living in. On reflection I realise that we do live in a 1984 like world, but one much more cleverly constructed. Not as rigid, not as enforced, one with an appearance of freedom and a press that for the most part repeats the lies they believe. Ultimately though it is the same deal in disguise.
